BGMC
BGMC is the Assemblies of God missions program for kids. The letters stand for Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge, and the heart of it is simple: helping children know, care, pray, give, and reach the lost. Through BGMC our kids learn that the gospel belongs to the whole world, and that they get to be part of sending it.
You will often see the Buddy Barrel around our children's ministry. It is the little bank where kids bring their coins and offerings, and over the year those gifts add up to real support for missionaries and missions projects around the world. It is one of the first ways a child at Maranatha learns the joy of giving and the habit of praying for people they may never meet.
BGMC has a two-fold purpose: to reach the children of the world with the good news of Jesus, and to grow a heart of compassion in our own kids. We want the next generation to carry and share the torch of the gospel, and BGMC is one of the ways we put that calling into their hands while they are young.

What kids learn through BGMC
- To knowKids learn about missionaries and the people they serve, and they see how God is at work in places near and far.
- To careWe help children grow a real compassion for those who have not yet heard about Jesus.
- To prayOur kids learn to pray by name for missionaries and for the work of the gospel around the world.
- To giveThrough the Buddy Barrel, children bring their offerings and become partners in missions with their own coins.
- To reachBGMC plants a heart for the lost early, so the next generation grows up ready to share the torch of the gospel.
How it works at Maranatha
BGMC is woven into our children's ministry. Kids hear missionary stories, pray together, and bring their offerings to the Buddy Barrel during the year. Everything they give goes to support Assemblies of God missionaries and missions projects.
Bring your kids on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for worship and Sunday school, where children take part in BGMC and the rest of our kids' ministry. If you would like to learn more or help your child get started, reach out to our BGMC coordinator.
